Planning & Management / Test Planning
The test plan answers the who, what, when, where and how of testing for a specific release.
It becomes a contract which all stakeholders sign-up to so that there can be no disagreement later about what sort of testing needs to be done, how much testing needs to be done or when the quality of the system under test is “good enough”. The Test Plan tells the project team what needs to be done, by who and when.
- Risk based approach with test effort appropriate to the level of risk and achievable within the constraints of the project
- Communication strategy to ensure the project team know and understand the Test Plan
- Clearly defined tasks, milestones and deliverables provide a baseline against which progress can be measured
- Each member of the project team understands their role and responsibilities and level of commitment (time and effort) with regards to testing
